What does GOOD fear of The Lord mean?

Psalm 130 was on a Keller sermon today on my drive in. He defined good fear of God like this:

fearing God for his followers means joyful, astonished, awe and wonder of Him.

Vs 4: But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared.

We are forgiven as followers of Christ – so shrinking-fear of God like Adam and Eve hiding from God after eating the fruit is replaced by joyful, astonished, awe and wonder of him because of Christ!

That is good news and good fear!

  1. That is the essence of The Gospel…”good fear and good news”…brings forth “joyfulness and gladness of hearts!”
