Good fiction gives clear voice to real life: Willie Traynor’s reflection on Miss Callie, his unlikely mentor in Ford County, a tale of loving the place.

“I ached with the loss of my dear friend. Its suddenness was cruel, as it always is. Its depth was so immense that I could not, at that time, imagine a recovery.”

Jodi introduced me to a new podcast AND this episode is with John Grisham, one of my all time favorite authors.

Ironically, poorly written books inspired him – not overestimating that he was better than the best writers.

He is asked questions I would have loved to ask him. These are all HOW questions. I.e. How do you organize your day and thoughts to write? How did you start? How did you know it might work? Etc.

For him it is all about the story first for all his books – then sometimes he picks certain books to address the issues at hand.

He OUTLINES everything he writes!!! – the art of the one pager!!!
